William Henry Harrison Signed Document

$2,395.00

A manuscript document, signed “Wm. H. Harrison,” by future President William Henry Harrison. The text reads, in part: “Provision return for three prisoners Releast from the indoors for two days Commencing the 15th and ending the 16th of July 95… The contractor will issue nine rations on the above return at G[reen]ville.”

In very good condition, with faint folds, light scattered foxing, and areas of light but irregular toning. Harrison, who was then serving as Anthony Wayne’s aide-de-camp, signed the Treaty of Greenville, ending the Northwest Indian War, on August 3.

The provisions of the treaty, which involved ten Native American tribes, included the turning over of certain lands (large parts of Ohio and the site of present-day Chicago among them) to the United States and delineated an “official”—but often ignored—boundary between American and Indian holdings.

One page, measures 8" x 5", dated July 1795. Unframed.

Sold with Letters of Authenticity from The Autograph Source (Lifetime Guarantee) and independent third-party authenticator PSA/DNA.
