George Washington Autographed Document Signed

$16,650.00

Revolutionary War–era free-franked folded address panel, measuring 7.25" x 4", addressed in another hand to “Brigadier General Irvine, Commander, Fort Pitt,” labeled “Public Service,” at top right, and franked in the lower left corner “Go. Washington.” by Revolutionary War General and First President of the United States George Washington.

When the Revolutionary War broke out, Irvine raised the 7th Pennsylvania Regiment and participated in the invasion of Canada, during which he was captured at Three Rivers. He was exchanged in 1778 and fought at the Battle of Monmouth. Promoted to Brigadier General in March 1782, he was ordered by Washington to Fort Pitt to take command of the troops on the western frontier and remained in that post until October 1783.

In good to very good condition, with moderate creasing to top and bottom edges, scattered creasing elsewhere, toning and foxing, and some light wrinkling. Washington’s autograph is large and bold, and mostly unaffected by the flaws. Overall beautiful presintation.

A very nice example of this now almost impossible to obtain President.

Sold with Certificate of Authenticity from The Autograph Source (Lifetime Guarantee) and a second Certificate of Authenticity from independent third-party authenticator PSA/DNA.
