Harry Truman Signed Handwritten Letter

A one page handwritten letter, signed as President by Harry S. Truman. The letter, dated May 12, 1949, was writtenb to White House Special Advisor Clark Clifford and his wife, Mamie.

The letter reads in full:

"Dear Clark & Mamie:

Thanks for the caster. It is perfectly lovely. My only difficulty is to keep Margie [his daughter] from appropriating it.

When I become a 'private citizen' I'll keep it by my plate all the time. You're kind to think of me.

Harry S. Truman"

The letter is in fine condition. Sold with the original transmittal envelope, addressed entirely in Truman's hand, with delivery note "By Hand".
